The IATWG was created to facilitate and improve
communication between the agencies in the
UN family in Swaziland and as a support to
the coordination of the emergency response.
Meetings take place weekly on Mondays. Each
agency is represented in the meeting. The
agenda always includes agency updates, that
is, an update on running projects, on particular
initiatives from the agency in question and
on specific factors in the emergency that
needs particular attention (for instance,
a deterioration in the situation of school
children due to cold weather).
The agenda also includes updates on events
and initiatives that arise from outside the
UN system. Representatives of other organizations
and institutions are invited ad hoc to give
briefings on particular initiatives, reports
etc.

IATWG Meeting end
of year 2003, Representatives from WFP, UNDP,
FAO, UNICEF, UNAIDS and UNFPA attended.
