In support of Swaziland’s UNDP Resident Coordinator’s
mission and objectives, a Humanitarian Information
Coordinating Working Group (HICWG) has been
established in Swaziland. This is a combination
of members from non-governmental organisations,
United Nations and government agencies; all
combined under one umbrella to share and coordinate
humanitarian information and promoting and
advocating for humanitarian assistance.
The scope of the HICWG covers:

Setting up a structure
for information flow; |

Correlation and repackaging
of information; |
| • |
Reaching a consensus
for conflicting information; |
| • |
Capacity building for
Information Officers by strengthening
existing formal structures; |
| • |
Harmonizing the methodologies
of information gathering and dissemination; |
| • |
Marketing and linking
the website to Cabinet and globally; and |
| • |
Facilitate a continuous
evaluation of data content and effectiveness
of Swazirelief and other dissemination
channels; |

Producing a regular
Who does What Where report for Swaziland,
that provides a fair account of development
and humanitarian activities in the country,
reveals hot spots of needs; |

Liaising with all information
management initiatives in the country
and regionally to ensure that emergency,
disaster response and development data
requirements are effectively considered. |
The membership group should provide basic
information to work from (representatives
might be invited to be present ad-hoc in working
Group meetings depending on the matters at
hand).
Members of the HICWG are organisations that
provide Humanitarian assistance: Assistance
that affects the parameters of people’s lives
and condition, especially pertaining to emergency
and crisis situations and areas.
